Consultation on the Draft Sustainability Appraisal for Site Allocations Preferred Option closed on 5pm on Monday 17 January 2011. Representations received are currently being collated and considered.

An essential consideration when drawing up planning documents is their effect on the environment and people’s quality of life, both now and in the future. To help address this, Sustainability Appraisals and Strategic Environmental Assessments are carried out alongside the preparation of these plans to make sure social, environmental and economic issues are taken into account at every stage so that sustainable development is delivered on the ground. It also appraises the different options that are put forward.
